COACHES DAY

Please attend the Coaches Day, being run by Mick Braithwaite, and collect your season’s gear , at Ferrymead Park on Sunday 5th April at 3:30pm.

RESULTS PROCEDURES FOR 10th GRADE AND ABOVE

Please text your game results provided to Erna Rogers on 027 746 5130 by 2:00 PM on game day.

Following format:  Grade, Section, Bays Team v Opposition, Bays Score – Opposition Score.
ie: 10th A v Cashmere, 3 – 1

Team Card – All 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th grade Div 1 and Div 2 must be dropped off at drop box on Physio’s room (between home and visitors changing rooms) at Barnett Park no later than 4pm on game day. Failure to comply incurs a $5.00 penalty to the Club. Make sure that you have got the opposition coach to sign your card and, likewise, you sign theirs.  All other team cards to filled out and kept with the club until required by Mainland Football. No team cards for non competitive.

PLEASE NOTE! You must notify Erna of results AND drop card into drop box.

SMALL WHITES MATERIAL and PLAYER OF DAY VOUCHERS

Mainland Football is providing Small Whites material to all registered players on 7th and 12th grade teams. This includes participation certificates and Player of the Day certificates. We recommend that each player is made Player of the Day at least once during the season.

TEAM COLOURS

It is the away teams responsibility to ensure that there is not a colour clash and if there is away team to change colours (or wear bibs).

HIGH SCORES

In some social football high scores can occur, Mainland Football through its competitions portfolio group, and discussion with other federations, offer the following suggestions to assist clubs to make the experience enjoyable for all participants when one side is being completely outclassed on the field and on the scoreboard. The following are options that the coach may wish to take up. These suggestions do not apply to competitive grades.

Both team coaches agree that the game is won when the 7 goal margin is reached
•      Swap attackers with defenders
•      Reduce team numbers until challenged by the lesser opposition
•      Swap goalkeepers
•      Play possession football in your own half
•      Can only score from a certain area of the field

There are sure to be further ways to keep the players challenged however these are just suggestions.  It is in no ones best interest for a team to win 18 – 0 particularly when participating in these grades is an essential element.

Certainly this alone does not solve the issues confronted within competitions however it does mitigate somewhat the anguish and disappointment that players, coaches and parents feel during and after such games.

COACHING AND BEING A REF

Please note coaches cannot referee and coach at the same time from 10th grade upwards. Fine to coach and ref up to and including 9th, but not above. 9th and below usually runs with each coach being ref for half the game.

CLUB ROOMS

Each Season all Junior teams and their families will be welcomed to our Clubrooms at the Sand Bar & Restaurant by the Club’s Senior players and teams. Each Junior Team will be invited on one particular evening to watch a video replay of their game that day. Graham Walker co-ordinates these visits and will contact you about this.

MAINLAND FOOTBALL COACHES RED BOOK

Also, Mainland Football also provides a Text messaging service to notify all coaches/team contacts of cancelled games. GROUND CLOSURES

During the season, occasionally, grounds will be closed due to bad weather. Please do not train or play on any ground that has been closed, the Council will charge the Club for any damage done to the ground. If you think the weather has been bad enough recently to possibly close a ground check online at: http://www.ccc.govt.nz/Recreation/SportsGroundClosures before using the ground. The emphasis is on the coaches to check BEFORE using the ground, ignorance of a ground being closed is not an allowable excuse to the Council.

Also contact Mick for any questions on the Bays Football Academy, which runs an in-house Player Development Program tailored for 7 to 13 year olds.
