Newsletter - 23rd June 2017

Hi all,

An update on what's happening around the Club:

Numbers

We are stronger than ever this year - we have 9 senior teams, 30 junior and youth teams and over 120 First Kicks/Fun Footballers - a membership of close to 700.

Results

Some notable achievements mid-season:

  • our Mens Premier team are second in the Mainland Premier League with a game in hand and in the semi-finals of the English Cup;
  • our Reserves are currently top of their league;
  • Masters Navy won the first round in the 35s Div 1 section;
  • Baby Blues and Winnies both finished second in their respective first rounds of Masters 35s Div 1 and 2;
  • 13As are pushing towards the top of the table in Div 1;
  • the Knights are having a great season in 12th grade A band;
  • the Footyballers have been promoted into 12th grade A band;
  • the Keas remain unbeaten in girls 11th grade;
  • the Skilz are having a strong season in 9th grade.

All the best to all teams for the second half of the season - keep enjoying your football.

Social

We continue to rotate junior and youth teams through the Speights Ale House on Saturdays, to socialise and be part of the Club with the senior teams. The recent Quiz Night was good fun and very successful, raising over $2100, which will go towards entry fees for our junior teams in upcoming tournaments.

Raffles

Many thanks to the junior teams who assisted with selling the Canterbury United raffle tickets - we ended up raising nearly $2000 for the Club, which will go towards gear and equipment.

Sponsors

A big thankyou to our Major Sponsor DJ Hewitt, our Club sponsors for the season - Silvermoon, House of Travel Ferrymead, Mitre 10 Mega Ferrymead, Bidfood, Winnie Bagoes Ferrymead and Speights Ale House Ferrymead - and our Sponsors - James Street Preschool, Porthills Earthmoving and Demolition, Anderson and Hill Sportspower, Ferrymead Pharmacy and Ferrymead Automotive - your support is much appreciated.

Charity

Once again we are aligned with HeartKids Canterbury - they support kids who require heart surgery in Auckland by assisting with transport and accommodation costs - any support through their donation boxes around town is welcome.
