Profile:
Neil has been a player, coach and committee member at Ferrymead Bays for 27 years. Currently Club President and Head Coach of the Women's Premier league team.
After playing and coaching football at semi-professional level in the UK for 15 years, he moved to New Zealand in 1998 with his family. He joined Ferrymead Bays FC as a first team player. Becoming Mens first team player coach in 2001, he took the team into the Federation 6 league (South Island League) for the first time in their history.
In 2002, he played a major role with the team when Ferrymead Bays won the Federation 6 at their first attempt. Winning the Federation 6 reserve league as player coach in 2004, Neil retired from senior football, and then focused on coaching his daughter, Robyns teams.
He coached the Women's CDL team to the Championship in 2010, Mens Reserve team from 2012 to 2015, and was Mens Premier team assistant coach 2016 to 2019.
In 2023 he took over as Women's 1st team coach with Paul White, with a 3 year plan to achieve Premier league status. This was achieved in 2024. Continuing to build the girls and women's game has become Neils focus, creating a pathway for all girls and women to play football at any level for as long as possible. With Ferrymead now having teams at all senior grade, barring South Island League, (see next year!), the future of girls and women's football looks bright.

I’m incredibly excited and grateful to be starting this new role as CWCL coach at Ferrymead Bays. It’s a real privilege to join a club with such a strong community feel, proud history, and clear commitment to the growth of women’s football. From the outset, I’ve felt genuinely welcomed, and I’m looking forward to getting stuck in and contributing in a positive way.
For me, coaching is always about people first. I’m passionate about building strong relationships, creating a supportive environment, and helping players grow in confidence while continuing to develop on the pitch. I believe in working hard, staying humble, and setting clear standards, while also making sure the team enjoys the journey together.
What excites me most about this opportunity is the chance to work with a motivated group, support individual and collective development, and help build a culture that reflects the values of Ferrymead Bays. I’m still learning every day as a coach, and I see that as a strength I’m always looking to improve, listen, and take on new ideas.
I’m thankful for the opportunity, and I’m proud to be starting this chapter at Ferrymead Bays.

Hi, I'm Amy and I'm really excited to be coaching the U13s girls this season. I'm a mum of two girls (one of whom is in the team), so I understand just how much football means to these players and their families.
I've played football since I was 10 years old and only stopped recently following surgery for an injury last year so my love for the game runs deep! Football has given me so much over the years, and I'm passionate about helping the girls build confidence, skills, resilience, and most importantly, enjoy their time on the pitch.
Outside of football, I'm a physiotherapist by trade, which means I have a strong interest in keeping our players healthy, strong, and moving well. I'm looking forward to a fun, supportive and positive season together.
Alan has been with the club for 5 years and this season will extend his stay to 6, making him the longest serving first team head coach in the clubs history.
“I’m looking forward to the challenges of a new season at Ferrymead Bays, a proud and competitive Christchurch club.
It will be great to see Dan Clarkson back and welcome Brad Eiffe to the coaching team to tackle the Southern League in 2026.
We shall be looking to progress on last season by retaining our playing squad, welcoming back one or two and seeing our young Reserves players mature into a competitive Southern League players.
Bring on the 2026 season!"
Tony has been with the club for many years having previously played in the senior and masters grades.
Having coached at youth level he moved into the senor space when a team of U19 boys were too old and were looking for a team. This is when the Keen Lads were founded. Starting in Division 2 he has grown the team and helped them progress to the Mens Championship.
Having finished 2nd in both the Championship and the Whero Cup in recent seasons, he will be hoping to go one better this time around.
